In my drawing you can see it rectangular shape with lower levels.I want to cut out some pieces with the subtract tool, but it keeps saying my shape is not a solid or it is locked.
The top red mark is a cut out I want to make flush with the lowest level. Sketchup Create Solid Free Version ButYour profile indicates you are using the free version but the Subtract tool is part of Solid Tools which is a pro-only feature. Idk which version I got, I was linked this via shapeways haha Hopefully you can help me with this problem, Ive been trying to find a solution for the past 3 hours. Did you try that At the upper left of the screen it should tell you whether you are using pro or Make. This object is built from edges and faces that are not all linked together making it non solid. Sketchup Create Solid How To Change ThatQuestion is: how to change that as easy as possible Please find an example part of it here: Any help is appreciated Best regards Keith. Im curious about how you drew the shape so that the faces werent all attached to the roof. I copied the roof over, deleted the extra edges, traced an edge to make a face on the bottom of the roof and used PushPull to put it down to match the height of yours. The object for my last message is only one piece of this one:. Any idea how to do the same for that one without reconstructing it completely Best regards Keith. Depending upon how many problems there are, it may just be easier to start from scratch. I often find that is the case with models from the 3D Warehouse. SS cool, thank you for your work Prints like a charm Best regards Keith. Or at least for sketchup Solid Inspector complains about nearly everything and I am not able to fix these issues. If you want to try it anyway, follow these steps: - delete all materials - explode all groups and components and nested ones - delete inner faces - flip backfaces - close volume -. Any help is appreciated Best regards Keith Are you still working on this There are a lot of different parts here. I suppose you need to make it all one solid component Just to offer at least some idea. You might take the repetitive components and work on them then work on the large parts making them solid. And fair warning, you may work on it a long time and discover some sloppiness in the original will prevent you from ultimately making it all solid. Good luck. You might take the best parts and recreate the worst parts yourself from scratch, using the original model as a guide. I will try to improve my skills, promised Friends of mine will get married on Friday in this building (the town hall of Aachen, Germany). I want to print and illuminate the building like I did with the cathedral, see above, as a present for them.
